ANZ Links Up With ETF Firm For Joint Venture

Australia and New Zealand Banking Group and ETF Securities have formed a joint venture to launch exchange traded funds for Australian investors, initially rolling out a range of six ETFs over the coming weeks.

The new company, known as ANZ ETFS Management Limited, will list the ETFs on the Australian Stock Exchange.

The funds are the ANZ ETFS S&P/ASX 100 ETF; the ANZ ETFS S&P/ASX 300 High Yield Plus ETF; ANZ ETFS S&P 500 High Yield Low Volatility ETF; ANZ ETFS Physical Gold ETF; ANZ ETFS Physical Renminbi ETF, and the ANZ ETFS Physical US Dollar ETF.

Further products and additional asset classes will be added over time and in other Asia-Pacific markets, such as Hong Kong, in response to demand from investors and intermediaries, ANZ said in a statement yesterday.

The joint venture will be based in Sydney and includes employees from both firms. Danny Laidler, ETFS Securities’ head of Australia and New Zealand, has been named co-head and head of distribution of the venture, while Adam Smith, who is director of business execution at ANZ Global Markets, has been appointed co-head and chief operating officer of the JV.
